What happens if you cancel an optional paid plan — and when a refund applies.

The free core is always free
The lessons, tests and learning path cost nothing, so there’s nothing to cancel or refund there. This policy only covers the optional paid Plus plans.
Cooling-off period
Under South Africa’s Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, you may be entitled to cancel certain online purchases within 7 days and receive a refund. If you’re within a cooling-off period that applies to your purchase, email us and we’ll refund you, less only what the law allows us to deduct.
Cancelling Family Plus
- You can cancel your subscription at any time — there’s no lock-in.
- When you cancel, your Plus features stay active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, then your account simply returns to the free core. Your learner keeps all their progress.
- We don’t charge a cancellation fee, and we won’t take the next renewal once you’ve cancelled.
Refunds for Family Plus
- Outside a cooling-off period, paid subscription time is generally non-refundable, because you keep access for the period you paid for.
- If you were charged in error, charged after cancelling, or couldn’t use the service because something was broken on our side, contact us and we’ll make it right — including a refund where fair.
- Refunds are made to the original payment method via PayFast.
School Licences
School licences are arranged by invoice; cancellation and refund terms for a licence are set out in that agreement. Get in touch and we’ll talk it through.
How to cancel or request a refund
Email hello@criticalthinkers.co.za from the address on your account, telling us what you’d like to do. We aim to reply within a few working days. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act and the ECTA are not affected by this policy.
Pricing
The price you pay is always the one shown at checkout before you confirm. The core curriculum is free and is never charged for.
